Sturgis,
South Dakota
INFORMATION ABOUT THE STURGIS RALLY
As you roll out of the hotel parking lot you can turn
to the left
to downtown
Rapid
City where
you will find
some of the
best dining
in the area.
Go to the right
and you’ll experience
a beautiful
ride down into
the old western
gold town known
as Keystone.
From there you
can go to Mt.
Rushmore and
the Crazy Horse
Monument; an
experience you
do not want
to miss!!
Make sure you
set a day aside
to travel the
loop through
Custer
State Park.
There you will
see many animals
from buffalo
to prairie dogs,
longhorn sheep,
eagles and elk.
A camera is
a must at all
times!!
Throughout
the Black
Hills area
is some of the
best riding
you’ll ever
do in your life.
You will see
wildlife of
all kinds at
its best– up
close and personal.
Make sure you
take the Ironman
Mountain Road
and Needles
Pass through
to Silva Lake,
a summer settling
area of the
Indians of the
Black Hills.
When you get
there and view
the lake yourself,
you’ll see why
the Indians
chose to rest
there. It is
so picture perfect.
You must indulge
in the old western
traditional
lunch served
at the general
store and picnic
out near the
lake – an experience
to remember.
And of course
you will want
to go to downtown
Sturgis, which
is 28 miles
north of Rapid
City. There
is a lot to
see, a lot to
do and many
vendors where
you can buy
lots of things
to fill your
saddle bags.
Don’t forget
to visit the
Full Throttle
Saloon and
for some great
live concerts,
you’ll want
to check out
the happenings
at the Buffalo
Chip Campground.
Make sure you
spend a day
going out to
the Badlands
with a stopover
at the historic
Wall
Drug Store
in the town
of Wall; a treasure
that has been
featured on
The Food Network
Channel. When
you ride through
the mountains
and canyons,
let your mind
wander; you
will see why
the settlers
crossing our
great country
called it the
badlands.
Don’t forget
the Devil’s
Tower, which
appeared in
“Close Encounters
of the Third
Kind”. Indian
legend tells
of Indian maidens
being chased
by a gigantic
bear. They said
that with the
help of the
gods, this mountain
rose at the
feet of the
Indian maidens
and raised them
to the heavens
with the gods
to protect them.
The legend says
that the large
grooves in the
mountain were
made by the
bear trying
to capture the
maidens by clawing
his way up to
them.
There is so
much more to
see and do at
the Sturgis
Rally, but we
will leave you
to experience
it for yourself.
Come make some
memories of
your own!
Please ride
safe and be
considerate
to all other
riders and the
beautiful land
of the Black
Hills. Enjoy!!
